Welcome Back...

Image
About a year ago I was walking through the gates of the Magic Kingdom and in about 72 days I will do the same. I have been there once since February and overall more than ten times and the feeling never gets old. This trip will be the third shortest trip to WDW (not counting day trips to just Disney Springs) and it will be just me, my wife, and my youngest son Wyatt. We will be staying two nights at Animal Kingdom Lodge and three days in the parks. Let the planning begin. It has been a while since I last wrote in this blog and I promise more as the days and weeks get closer to the trip. I also plan on airing another season of the podcast after a delay of seven months after our season one finale. The podcast will be just me for awhile. My partner in podcast crime, Corri, is busy with her life  in college studying and perfecting her artwork. She will be doing the behind the scenes work such as editing out all my dead air. So until next time have a great time and I'll be writing real

Have a Magical Day!

Image
I drive a bus as part of my job and from sitting up high I notice a few things. One is how can you as an adult help or hinder a child's day. Grumpy has never been my favorite dwarf and yet I see a lot of Grumpys in public today. Smile and wish someone a good day, say hello. These are common courtesies to take into account when you make your way through the world.  This is why I love Disney. The cast members always smile and are courteous with a "Have a Magical Day" welcome they set the tone for all of the goodness that can occur on your trip. On our last trip I noticed that the guy at the gate coming into our resort always greeted us with a "Welcome Home!". One thing I take from this is to try and make my students and bus riders with a positive greeting Wouldn't it be great if we all could treat children and adults with the common humane treatment that is so lacking today.  Whether it be on Social Media or in the line at the supermarket let us try and treat

The Magic is Still Alive!

It has been a minute (to coin a current term) since I last wrote and in order to catch you up on what has been going on in the life of the blog and podcast here we go. Since I last wrote we have officially launched our podcast Main Street Memories on both Spotify and Apple Podcasts. We (my daughter and I) have done three episodes and recorded a fourth. In terms of research we have also enjoyed a family trip to Walt Disney World. For those out there who feel that the current condition of our nation due to the pandemic has taken away from the magic at WDW you'd be mistaken. Some people will argue otherwise but I am here to tell you it is different but still as magical as ever, maybe even more. Yes, there are protocols that must be taken in order for a business to ensure the safety of their cu stomers but it doesn't diminish the experience. Mickey, Donald, Goofy and the gang are still alive and well at all four theme parks and there are plenty of opportunities to see them and pho

Prepping for the Debut

Who here has heard themselves on a recording and thought it wasn't them? Every time I hear myself on either an answering machine or some other recording I wonder why my brother comes over the recording. That happened again today. Corri and I made our first test recordings for the upcoming podcast. We just sat in her room and discussed a topic that I will not disclose at this time because the topic will either be a part of an upcoming episode or be an upcoming episode. We were testing out our new microphone and wanted to make it as realistic as possible so we just began discussing things.  The recording was not scripted and was very raw (non-edited) however, it sounded very much like I visioned when the idea of the podcast was presented to me. One thing we both realized is that we both want to head back to WDW. It has been since June of 2019 that we were there. I know first-world problems. Well this post is short and just about keeping you in the loop. We definitely want to have ou

Why Disney?

As I look around my house I have many reminders of why I have what some people would call an addiction to Disney. There are Mickey Mouse figurines, plushes and images on clothes along with the remaining Sensational Six (Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy and Pluto). Even our Christmas tree has ornaments from Disney and Pixar. For those of you who know me this shall come as no surprise. I even have tattoos of Donald, Mickey, Buzz and Woody along with my wife and I have a couples tattoo of Beauty and the Beast (I am the Beast...). The family has enjoyed Disney+ streaming services as we have watched movies, shows and specials of all the Disney entertainment family including Marvel, Star Wars, and the Muppets. So when my daughter approached me about doing a podcast, I took a sip out of my Donald Duck mug and said "hmmm, what would it be about?" in a joking manner, knowing darn well it was going to be Disney themed. My "addiction" began at an early age with the movies

Introduction

Ever since 2012 I have began about four to five different blogs based on my love for Walt Disney World. These blogs included tips, opinions, and reviews of the forty-seven square miles in Central Florida that make up my favorite vacation spot. Today I begin a blog with a similar theme but for a different reason. My daughter and I are going to create, record, and stream a podcast with the same name as the blog and we hope to have the first episode before 2021.  It was her idea although I was not hard to persuade. Although it will deal with Walt Disney World, it will also delve into all things Disney and more. It will be a periodical look into the relationship my daughter and I have. The give and take of two Disney fans, we will share our opinions which will sometimes differ from each other and I will tell you why mine is the right one. Seriously though, we won’t be a travel tip ONLY podcast. We will look at Marvel, Star Wars, Muppets and all things Disney. Stay tuned...
